On-line cursive handwriting characterization using TF-IDF scores of graphemes
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, we present an approach for characterizing the on-line cursive handwriting of different writers, which may consist in identifying the writer or his handwriting style. This method is inspired from information retrieval methods and is designed to be embedded in an adaptive word recognizer. We perform experiments assessing the effectiveness of the proposed method for writer identification. Additional preliminary experiments also show that the handwriting style can be used to personalize our cursive word recognizer, enabling the word recognition rates to be increased significantly even with a basic adaptive scheme, which is very encouraging. Keywords-Writer identification; handwriting style classification; adaptive cursive word recognition; on-line features; classification using TF-IDF.

On-Line Handwriting Recognition Using Hidden Markov Models
New global information-bearing features improved the modeling of individual letters, thus diminishing the error rate of an HMM-based on-line cursive handwriting recognition system. This system also demonstrated the ability to recognize on-line cursive handwriting in real time. The BYBLOS continuous speech recognition system, a hidden Markov model (HMM) based recognition system, is applied to on...
متن کاملGraphemes Segmentation for Arabic Online Handwriting Modeling
In the cursive handwriting recognition process, script trajectory segmentation and modeling represent an important task for large or open lexicon context that becomes more complicated in multi-writer applications. In this paper, we will present a developed system of Arabic online handwriting modeling based on graphemes segmentation and the extraction of its geometric features. The main contribu...

OBJECTIVES This study examined concurrent validity of the Evaluation Tool of Children's Handwriting-Cursive (ETCH-C) by comparing ETCH-C total legibility percentage scores with handwriting grades from teachers. The study also identified the legibility percentage score discriminating between satisfactory and unsatisfactory handwriting. METHOD The participants were 101 fourth graders who comple...

OBJECTIVES To determine the reliability and aspects of validity of the Evaluation Tool of Children's Handwriting-Cursive (ETCH-C; Amundson, 1995), using the general scoring criteria, when assessing children who use alternative writing scripts. METHOD Children in Years 5 and 6 with handwriting problems and a group of matched control participants from their respective classrooms were assessed w...
متن کاملChapter 0 Stroke - Based Cursive Character Recognition
In this chapter, we keep focusing on on-line writer independent cursive character recognition engine. In what follows, we explain the importance of on-line handwriting recognition over off-line, the necessity of writer independent system and the importance as well as scope of cursive scripts like Devanagari. Devanagari is considered as one of the known cursive scripts [20, 29]. However, we aim ...
